- Working for Maithili language over 50 years, since 1973(wrote a high class scientific article on Viruses(Vishanu Vish Va;Navjeevank Nirman) in Maithili in Ranchi College Magazine
- Founder of Antarrashtriya Maithili Parishad, 1992 (& its 39 affiliates), organized 36 International Maithili Conferences where PM, Nepal, Sri Prachand had been chief guest at Kathmandu on 11.4. 2009 EX pm Nepal Dr Baburam Bhattrai on 20.12.2025 and ex PM,Nepal Jhalanath Khanal at Biratnagar on 23.12.2000
- Has been extensively travelling nooks and corners of Mithila to propagate Maithili language and culture since 1992 has done 302 Mithila Jagaran Yatra spending 1502 days and travelling some 6 lakh Km for it,
- Till July 2025 Addressed 72 schools in Mithila region for Maithili language,career and health
- Till July 2025 Organised 107 camps training Maithils for Maithili language and social harmony
- He knows 16 Languages & 11 dialects (27). He was on a jury for the Sahitya Akademi for Yuva Puraskar in Maithili and twice for the Prabodh Sahitya Samman of Maithili.
- He asked first about the second language status of Sanskrit which Uttarakhand and HP adopted.

Other Social contribution- As the founder of the National medicos Organisation(NMO) since 8.8.1977 toured 208 medical colleges and 9 dental colleges to organize medicos for social work; Having travelled the country for social organisations around 10 lakh kilometers on his own cost and leaves (date wise account available) related to medicos, engineering students, agricultural students, etc.)
NMO (National Medicos Organisation which Silver Jubilee Dy PM LKAdvani and Sarsnghchalak KS Susadarshji had been guests on 10.11 2002) and 69 other social organizations, , Nationalist Engineering Organisation(23.4.2017), Bhartiya Lipi Parishad 2017; Bismil Vichar Manch, 2017)., etc.
He has been working continuously since the age of 8 years through RSS (for collection for Vivekanand Rock Memorial,1963, Gauraksha(1966), BJS(1967-71; photo with Vajpayeeji in 1969 available, worked with Sri Karia Munda(formed Dy Speaker, Rajyasabha) at Khunti (1971). ABVP(1971-85), JP movement (1974), Janta Party(1977), through NMO Andhra cyclone relief(1977), Chhotanagpur tribal camp (the 1980s), Mithila flood relief(1984,1987,1995,2008), Nagaland camp(1987-88), etc.
Worked closely with KN Govindacharya, Sushil Kr Modi, Ashwini Choubey, Ravishankar Prasad, Saryu Ray, etc, in the 1974 movement of Bihar.
He was appreciated by great personalities like Acharya Binoba Bhave, Pt Ramnanad Mishra ( a close associate of Gandhiji& JP), Bala Saheb Deoras, Nanaji Deshmukh, HH Swami Chinmaynanda, Prof Rajendra Singh, KS Sudarsha, Dr. AbajiThatte, Bhauro Deoras, Kailashpati Mishra, HV Sheshadra, LS Bhide, Suryanarayan Rao, etc. A prolific orator on any subject for any composition of the audience; appreciated by P. Parmeshwara at Thiruvanthapuram on 12.1.1984 and Sri Nikhil Kumar, ex-Governor, Kerala at Patna on speech on ‘Republic Manthan on 28.6.2018.
Dr. Dhanakar Thakur has addressed hundreds of national and international conferences on medical and medico-social aspects (like AIDS), Medical education, etc., and presented a new model of medical education to the MCI.
